An honest question...and one that I will have an answer for soon...

Okay now first off, this question will also be pertaining to the subject of fanfiction as well...I intend to touch all bases here...but first off, I didn't exactly start off hating fanart/fanfiction. Sure I thought some of it was a bit odd but I first got on this site, watching almost every popular Sonic fan artist that I could. I did it at first because I enjoyed the art...but it seems over the years...I've grown less and less fond of fanart. I don't have a concrete reason for why I grew less fond of it but I think for the most part it was oversaturation. I grew tired of it and scanned the recently submitted pages in hopes of finding original stuff...and most of the time what I thought was original, turned out to be fanart! ACK! Eventually I grew tired of that wackiness and just decided to comment on photography.

Perhaps yet another reason for why I grew to dislike fanart was just the lack of originality. This should come as a non shock to anyone but I write and draw things from my stories, which happen to NOT be fanart. I spent quite a bit of time doing this, crafting my characters into the people they are today...and frankly I get annoyed when people waste all this creativity they could be using to do their own stuff and just do fanart. I don't know if anyone has noticed but basically DA is nothing more than a glorified version of Myspace...and whoring out fanart is similar to someone with Tila Tequilla syndrome (Don't ask, you're better off not knowing). Now I know some people don't do it just for the attention but when that's the case for the most part on DA, what are you supposed to assume? If you have the talent, stop wasting your time on fanart and do something else with your talent...it is SUPER annoying to see someone waste away their time with fanart when they could be doing something better. Yes it annoys me that much...

Now then...fanfiction...what is there to say? I for the most part have been annoyed with it's massive amount of OOC, the oversaturation of sexual tension (Really is it all about sex? Apparently SO!) that seems to exist between two characters...which would be totally OOC for both of them...the decent working plots that are wasted on this debauchery...sure if you want to do one, fine but why continue to do them? I see plenty of writers who seemed totally fixed on fanfiction when they could be...I dunno...coming up with their own stories! Sure they may be fine tuning their writing skill (Not enough do that) but then they just keep doing fanfiction...ARGH

Too much talent wasted on it if you ask me...plus the fact that most of it is just kind of sick...
